Ep. 7 Flying Home from Alaska
After limping back to Campell River with an inop Torque gauge we stumble across some amazing luck. The one place in town that repairs rotorcraft has 5 or so parts for Robinson helicopters. One of those parts is exactly the part we need to get back into the skies. Now it's just a matter of who is going to pay for it. After that we just have to fly a couple hundred miles over inlets and mount rainier to make it home.

Bell 505 Delivery Part Two
Переглядів 18 тис.3 роки тому
VFR on top, night flight through Chicago, 50 knot cross winds, and an emergency set down in a field. The second half of our flight home from the Bell factory in Montreal was a sweat inducing experience. However, at the end we got treated to an amazing flight above some low level fog in the beautiful red rocks of southern Utah.
Ep. 3 Watching Bears Fight From a Helicopter
Переглядів 7 тис.3 роки тому
On our third day flying to Alaska the weather improves and the clouds provide a surreal touch to an already breathtaking landscape. Theres lots to see on this flight north. We even stumble upon a momma black bear defending her cub from another bear. Things to be looking up weather wise as we continue to plod north in the Robinson R66.
Bell 505 Helicopter Pickup and Flying New York at Night
Переглядів 32 тис.3 роки тому
We travel to Montreal Canada to pick up a Bell 505 Helicopter from the Bell factory. Bell rolls out the red carpet with a tour of the factory, acceptance flight and lunch. Then they hand over the keys and see us off as we fly back across the border into the United States. With a helicopter that has fewer than 15 hours and a pilot who's never flown on the East Coast we charge ahead for a night f...
Flying the Great Salt Lake in the R66
Переглядів 2,4 тис.3 роки тому
It's all about timing and location. In this video we get both. A sunset flight over a purple Great Salt Lake in the R66. After a trip to the Sawtooth Mountains we inadvertently get an amazing flight along the shore of the largest salt water lake in the western hemisphere, The Great Salt Lake
Ep. 1 Flying to Alaska in a R66 Helicopter
Переглядів 16 тис.3 роки тому
Flying to Alaska from Utah in a Robinson R66 helicopter seems daunting but if you just take it one mile at a time eventually you’ll cover all 2000 plus miles. On the first leg of our journey to Alaska we fly from our home airport in Utah to Kalispel, Montana. This first day will set us up for our jump across the border into Canada. It also gives us an opportunity to work out any wrinkles with o...
Ep. 2 A Crazy Day of Flying in Canada
Переглядів 11 тис.3 роки тому
Extreme winds, vomit, zero visibility, rain and mountainous terrain definitely make for challenging flying. The weather forces us down in a remote mountain range somewhere in western Canada. Throw in a border crossing and you've got yourself a recipe for a stressful day.
Camping With Helicopters on a 1500ft Cliff
Переглядів 7 тис.3 роки тому
The coolest campground you'll ever see. Perched 1500 feet on top of a sandstone monolith overlooking some of the most amazing landscape on earth. Only accessible by helicopter or amazing rock climbing skills. This is why you learn to fly a helicopter, to get to places like these.
Ep. 4 Scud Running in Alaska in a R66
Переглядів 25 тис.3 роки тому
Weather is unpredictable and changes fast in Alaska. Traveling between Ketchikan and Juno can be tough since it's one of the wettest places in the United States. For us the most important thing is to avoid getting trapped and inadvertent flight into clouds. Luckily, flying a Helicopter has its advantages such as landing whenever things get dicey. The only problem is that sometimes, between the ...
Ep. 5 Flying Glacier Bay National Park
Переглядів 7 тис.3 роки тому
Mendenhall Glacier and Glacier Bay National Park all in one very long amazing day. There's no better way to see either of those wonders than from a helicopter. That is, as long as you don't fixate on the possibility of having to auto rotate into one of the many giant blue cracks covering the surface of the glacier. In this video we start our day in Juneau, fly the Mendenhall glacier, then Glaci...
Ep. 6 When Things Go Wrong in the Canadian Wilderness
Переглядів 11 тис.3 роки тому
When everything below you is hostile terrain, little problems can make you sweat. So we considered ourselves lucky when an instrument failure happened close to the ground somewhere we could put down. Such a place was non existent for most of the day as we flew from Juneau, Alaska to Campbell River Canada.
Claustrophobic II: The Spanish Hole

Sealed by a steel door almost 50 years ago, we go deeper and longer into a hole we never knew was there until recently. If you don't mind heights, and tight, wet, dark holes then come have a look at this most spectacular limestone cave hidden in Utah.

What I'm wondering: how do you know the floor is stable and the ceiling too? How can you be so sure nothing will collapse when you've pushed yourself through tiny spaces? A few inches less space and you can never go back. #terrifying

Never went into a tight cave like that (and never will). I remember touring a winery and they allowed people to climb through a hole about 2 ft in diameter into a huge empty wine barrel. Plenty of room for 8 of us to stand up inside, but just knowing, as I stood at the back, that the only way out of that enclosed space was that small hole definitely gave me the heebie-jeebies.

I’ve owned a FZ-07, WR250, and YZ250. I’ve ridden 450s and liter bikes. And the TW200 always remains as that ONE bike that just does something so well none of the others do. Low seat height, unbeatable simplicity and reliability. I wanna get one as almost a mini bike to mess around on.
